Asylum magazine asked Gary Glass, the director of the American Homebrewers Association, to name the best places in America to brew your own. His top five: Minneapolis/St. Paul, San Diego, New York City, Denver/Boulder, and Texas and Florida.

The worst: Alabama, Mississippi, and Oklahoma, where it’s still against the law to homebrew.
